Crystals in Art

Today, some of the finest quartz crystals are extracted from the mountains and caves of Arkansas. Yet this luminous and mysterious material has fascinated artists, spiritual leaders, royalty, and healers worldwide for millennia.

Curated by Lauren Haynes, Crystal Bridges’ contemporary art curator, along with guest curator Joachim Pissarro, the exhibition Crystals in Art: Ancient to Today marks the first show dedicated to exploring the multifaceted relationships between crystal and art across different cultures and historical periods. Visitors can view ancient pieces such as engraved gemstones, figurines, and other artifacts alongside contemporary works that investigate crystal’s form, reflective qualities, and inherent mystique.

Featuring more than 75 artworks from Ancient Egypt, Rome, China, and other regions, the exhibition highlights how the allure of crystal transcends both time and place.
