All of these easy painting ideas have been designed and tested by me (Jenny K.) with my own students. I only share what has been tried and proven effective. This is important because the foundation of platforms like Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) and associated blogs is built on the idea that teachers create, try, and test lessons that work. This means you won’t have to worry about trying out a lesson only to find it doesn’t go as planned. I'll always give you a heads-up if things might get tricky and how to handle them. Having this "teacher-approved" guarantee is a big deal, especially when dealing with paint!

January
Snow Globe Marbleized Paper: This project uses shaving cream to create marbled paper, which is one of my all-time favorite art activities. It’s a magical technique that never fails to amaze, whether with preschoolers or high school students. I’ve done this with students of all ages, and it’s always a success. For January, this is perfect for making winter-themed snow globes.

February
Textured Paper Valentine’s Day Hearts: Making textured paper is another fun and versatile activity I love doing with kids. In February, use this project to create textured paper hearts for Valentine’s Day. This unique art piece can be taken home by your students as a special gift for their families.

Robert Indiana LOVE Shamrocks: This is a fantastic and easy painting project for St. Patrick’s Day. Inspired by Robert Indiana’s iconic LOVE artwork, this project is perfect for kids and can be completed quickly. April
Poetry Month Art Lesson: This project is ideal for National Poetry Month in April. Combining art and poetry, students will create colorful, fantasy-inspired ice cream cone paintings based on the poem “Bleezer’s Ice Cream” by Jack Prelutsky. This fun project is a great way to teach alliteration while letting kids express their creativity.
